A smokier expression of already rather smoky Black Grouse, the Black Grouse Alpha has more yummy peated malt in its blend. Rich with plenty of sherried notes and brilliantly warming. A noble-looking black grouse, or Tetrao tetrix, adorns the bottle, and no, that’s not where a certain block stacking game got its name from.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Orange peels, dark chocolate and thick, sugary treacle with a hearty dose of peat smoke.
Palate: Peat crackles on through the palate, earthy and rich. Salted butter and sweet vanilla.
Finish: Smoky and drying.
Overall: Peat fans should be rather happy with this.
