Description
Situated in the heart of Saint Julien, Château Saint Pierre is an ancient wine-growing estate dating back several centuries (traces of the Château can be found in archives dating back to 1693) and extends over an area of 17 hectares composed of Günzian gravel soils, on a clay-sand base.
Only planted with old vines (over 50 years old), the Château Saint Pierre vineyard is planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Ranked Fourth Growth in the 1855 classification, it is the smallest vineyard of the Saint Julien appellation.
Château Saint Pierre 2017 is a blend mainly Cabernet Sauvignon (73%) to which are added 20% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc.
In the glass, Château Saint Pierre 2017 presents a beautiful deep purple colour and reveals an elegant and charming bouquet of jammy fruits, with notes of blackcurrant and plums rolled up in a layer of undergrowth and dried tobacco leaves.
In the mouth, Château Saint Pierre 2017 offers a medium body filled with ripe and powerful black fruits supported by an abundant and granular tannic structure. The midpalate releases an intense freshness that stretches to the finish, in a remarkable length.
Powerful, rich and fruity, Château Saint Pierre 2017 could become one of the most beautiful surprises of the appellation!
